The function of a cable is to conduct a signal from one component to another with the least interference. That is all.
Speaker cables: The gauge is the only spec that matters. Under 3m: 16 AWG. 3–8m: 14 AWG. Over 8m: 12 AWG. Both cables should be the same length.
Digital cables: The signal either arrives correctly or it doesn't. A standard USB cable that transfers data reliably is functionally identical to one costing fifty times more.
The Exotic Cable Myth
Exotic cables act as passive filters, subtly altering frequency response. Whether this sounds better is entirely subjective and unpredictable. The pricing can be — and is — exorbitant.
Cables should be the last thing you buy and the least you spend.

الكابلات ينبغي أن تكون آخر ما تشتري وأقلّ ما تنفق عليه.
